Born in Florence, Sara Fanelli came to London to study art, where she has been working as a designer and illustrator since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1995. She has written and illustrated a number of award-winning children's books, and her work has been exhibited in venues around the world. She has been awarded three D&AD pencils. In 2006 she was commissioned to design a timeline and four gallery entrances for the re-hanging of Tate Modern's permanent collection. That same year she became the first female illustrator to be made an Honorary Royal Designer for Industry.
